I have worked in food service (I am a Dietary Manager) for over 30 years and you know if deep fried chicken is done when it comes to the top of the fryer and floats, about 12 - 15 minutes.

How long to deep fry chicken?

It all depends, I would follow the instructions that came along with your deep fryer. If you have lost the frying instruction (contains frying timetable for various foods) do a search for your model on the internet through a search engine.

In my case, based on my particular deep fryer -- I typical add 4 to 5 pieces of prepared chicken into my frying basket and fry at a preheated temperature of 375 degree Fahrenheit for 13 to 18 minutes.
