Thanks for providing the great advice and tips on how to feed a family on a very tight budget. Everything you said was on the money. You seem to be somewhat of any expert in frugal cooking and if this is the case you should definetly write the cooking cheap cookbook you mentioned in your post.
Also, I'd like to take you up on the offer of providing some recipes and tips. Just fill out the contact form (click CONTACT link in upper right corner of any webpage) and leave me your email address.

Family Eating Cheap by: Jennifer
When I was growing up, my mom always tried to have good dinners every night but always on a very tight budget. Never buy meat when it's not on sale! Stock up on it when it's on sale and freeze it. The trick to this is getting ahead of the game and setting the meat out the morning before you leave for work so it's ready to use when you get home. Have soup, chili, or beans for dinner often. Very good for you and cheap! Make your menu ahead of time, BEFORE you go to the store. Then, figure out exactly what you need to buy. Think of snacks too. Also, come up with a plan. Only go to the grocery store on Saturday mornings or Thursday after work. That way you always know when your next trip will be. Do not take kids to the store if you can avoid it. They tempt you to buy things you don't need. I have been cooking for a family of five for a really long time and make extremely healthy dinners! Sometimes I think I should write a cookbook for cooking cheap, but there's too many out there already, I'm sure. If you want any recipes or more tips, just let me know. I'd be more than happy to e-mail you.

Family Budget by: Sheri
I read the ads and never buy meats that are not on sale. Chicken leg quarters are always cheap and they can be cooked many ways. Try to cook from scratch its cheap and healthy. Try to use leftovers in creative ways.

With the economy in such bad shape I totally understand your concern. A non-profit, non-denominational organization named Angel Food Ministries provides grocery relief to residents in 35 states across America. Since you are from the great state of Maryland, one of the 35 states being serviced by Angel Food Ministries, looks like you are in luck.
