My wife and I go to the store early Saturday or Sunday morning and go first to the "marked down" meats area. Often we find packages of meat that are nearing thier "sell by" date and the store must sell them or throw them out. The meat is safe, and is usually priced at half price or better. We either prepare it that weekend or freeze it for later use.
